1908 (?) Krikor Bedikian was born in Ankara (Turkey). We do not know his precise date of birth partly because our western calendar has a different dating system and also because archives have disappeared. He was 10 when, his parents, from a well-known family of lawyers, were murdered in front of him, during the massacres of Armenians.
1918 - 1924 He grew up in orphanages in Constantinople and Corfu, before moving to Beirut (Lebanon). This was his first encounter with French culture and where he started to draw.

Chance smiled, the gifts he had shown since childhood were noticed, and his foreman set him free by tearing up his contract.

The next 18 years he spent on his own studying the secrets of painting in museums and in old books.
In Beirut he had started by drawing people he met in the streets. In the fifties he developed this line by including children, while travelling in France and all over Europe. These trips only ceased a few months before his death. A devoted wife, a few close friends: a few faithful collectioners who regularly bought his paintings. He died in Paris November 24. 1981.
